3G subscribers in China driven by increased sales of smartphones
China in the near future will become the first country to have morethan 900 million mobile phone users.
According to statistics released officially by the Ministry of Industryand Information Technology of China, the number of mobile usersin the country has reached 889 million at the end of March.
During the quarter, noted the addition of as many as 30 millionmobile phone users. If BASED on past growth rates, estimatednumber of Chinese mobile phone users can break the 900 millionin May.
In March 2009, the number of Chinese mobile phone users is 670million. In the same period last year, that number rose to 776million. During 2010, the number of China's 3G subscribers to grow 34.7 million people. Meanwhile, for the first quarter of this year, 3G users increased by about 13.5 million people.
Analysts say that sales of smart phones (smartphones) in Chinahas helped increase the country's 3G customers. In 2009, sales ofsmart phones reached 21 million units only. Last year, the numberrose to 62 million units of mobile phones.
Smart phone sales in China this year, is expected to reach 95million units. Meanwhile, the number of Chinese mobile phone users who surf the web, last year has reached 303 million people.
After China, India became the country with the second largestnumber of mobile users in the world. Based on data from Indiantelecom regulator per month of February, there are 791 millionmobile phone users in the country.
This is a very significant growth, since last September, where thenumber of new Indian mobile phone users reached 687 millionusers. While the United States itself only has 303 million mobile phone users.
